Chapter 03
I’m back. Something weird happened tonight, let me tell you about it.
There’s a girl in our class, let’s call her W. We get along pretty well—she’s helped me out a few times with small favors. A couple of days ago, she actually told me that she has a crush on C and wanted me to help set up a chance for her to have dinner with him.
At first, I advised her against it. I told her a lot of girls like C, but anyone who confessed got rejected; he just isn’t interested in girls at all, so there’s no chance.
Still, W wanted to give it a try and kept pestering me, saying she didn’t expect much—just wanted to have a meal together.
I thought, well, W has helped me a few times and C has brought me lunch three days in a row already, so I decided to invite them both.
Coincidentally, today is Saturday, and C didn’t go home this week. A and B went out on Friday, so only the two of us were left in the dorm.
Usually, C and I sometimes eat out together—we pay each other back, taking turns. Last time he treated me was on March 26th, I think. He said his parents had reserved a couple’s table and set meal at a Western restaurant, but they couldn’t go because of some reason, so he invited me along. I asked if 3/26 was some kind of special date, like his parents’ anniversary or something, but he said no, just a normal day.
Anyway, back on topic.
In the afternoon, I told C I wanted to treat him to a meal. He said okay. Although he’s usually low-key emotionally, I know him well enough to know he’d be happy about it. I told him to get ready and that I’d message W.
He frowned and asked why I needed to message W.
I explained a bit but didn’t mention that W likes him—I just said it was to help out with something and that I was inviting them both to eat together.
Honestly, I didn’t mean to play matchmaker. I know C isn’t interested in romance; I just wanted to kill W’s hope quickly.
But when C heard that, he immediately frowned and said he wasn’t going.
I was stunned and asked why.
He said he wasn’t hungry anymore and didn’t want to eat, then just turned to his phone and ignored me.
I thought it was weird—just classmates having a meal together, what’s the big deal?
No choice, I had to cancel with W.
The two of us stayed in the dorm, ignoring each other. No dinner, no chatting.
Around 9 PM, I was starving and broke the silence by asking, “Are you hungry?”
C stared at me for a long time without answering. I poked him and said, “I’m just asking if you want to eat, why are you staring at me like that? You’re not going to eat me, are you?”
Finally, he replied with one word: “I'm hungry.”
Alright then, no argument.
I ordered crab hotpot delivery, and we ate in the dorm—things went back to normal.
I was a bit too full, lying on my bed and couldn’t sleep, so I came to share this story. My hands are tired from typing, so I’m done for now.

TurtleCrawling: Do you and C have a good relationship? Looks like a great bromance.
SunriseEast: Off-topic, but seeing "crab hotpot" late at night makes me so hungry! But I’m dieting, no night snacks allowed. Crying.
HappyLittlePotato: Besides eating together, do you guys also watch movies or stuff?
Anonymous reply: Yes. There’s a cinema near our school. When a movie we both want to see comes out, we go together. Sometimes only one is interested, and the other just tags along.
IHateTomatoes: Somehow I feel like C might like you! He’s jealous, right?
Anonymous reply: ??? To clarify again, both of us are 100% straight! What are you thinking, always imagining stuff.
User435435: Better not say someone’s into him—he’s homophobic. Guys like OP? Us gays could never dream of being worthy.
